National Manager - Glenn KiernanGlenn has over 17 years experience in the Quarrying and Mining Industry in New Zealand. Starting out in his career Glenn worked for Waitomo District Council at the age of seventeen and a year later he moved into the Mobile Crushing Division of the Company. Glenn was lucky to be under the management of Chris Brown who today still manages this division for the privatised company Inframax.
Chris employed Glenn to operate and manage the Mobile Chip Crushing Unit that travelled the North Island producing quality products for a number of Roading and Quarrying Company's. Glenn enjoyed his time under Chris's leadership where he was taught engineering, mechanical and managerial skills to the highest level. Glenn commented that perhaps the most important skill of all learnt from Chris was being able to achieve your personal goals by working hard and to the best of your ability.
Glenn moved on from here to start up a small business in Tauranga before his two children arrived. With the city growing rapidly Glenn & Karen both country people decided to move North to the small town of Katikati.
Glenn started with Macmahon Contractors in Waihi as a shot-firer before moving into the Drilling Division then onto Drill & Blast Leading Hand. Under the leadership of Marty Waldron Glenn progressed rapidly before Marty was transfered to another Macmahon Operation in Western Australia near Newman.
Glenn moved into the Drill & Blast Super's position for five years. In this time Glenn tested and analysed bulk explosive products, electronic initiation systems, delay timings, geology's and anything else that would have an effect on blast induced ground vibration as this was the dominating factor for the site.
In early 2008 Glenn was asked to write a paper for the IQPC Conference in Brisbane, Australia. With such short notice Glenn managed to but some of his research together for this paper. Click here to view this paper.
Glenn has a number of comrade's around the world who he has worked with over the years on specific Drill & Blast Projects and Glenn enjoys the challenges these specialists projects bring as it is a chance to to create new tools for shot-firers and managers alike.
In April 2008 Glenn decided to join Lance & Chris at Inline Drilling Ltd as the company was expanding rapidly and an experienced person with the skills to help manage the company was required. Never one to turn down an exciting but challenging opportunity Glenn moved into the position and thoroughly enjoys the challenges the position brings.
